1. Photo exhibition of works by the finalists of the international competition “Kartina Mira”
The exhibition area of the Congress features photoreproductions of works by the 2026 finalists of the international competition for young artists “Kartina Mira” from Russia, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Colombia, the Republic of Korea, and Cameroon. The exhibition brings together young authors whose works in various genres have already been recognized by the professional community and the audience. The photo exhibition of the winning works will allow the Congress guests to see how young artists from different countries, through their art, reflect on the values of their peoples and their place in global culture.
The initiative to organize the international artists’ competition belongs to the company “Innopraktika”. The project is being implemented in partnership with the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Arts; the general partner is JSC “Gazprombank”.
The idea behind “Kartina Mira” is based on a dialogue between tradition and modernity, and the competition itself serves as a platform for cultural and creative exchange between young authors from different countries. Any artist aged 18 to 35, regardless of their level of training or place of residence, can submit an application. The key theme of the project is “The values of my people as part of the global culture of humanity.” The creative competition is held in three categories: “Painting,” “Graphics,” and “Digital Art.”
The first competition was a great success and took place in 2024–2025, attracting around 1,500 works by young artists from 65 countries. The exhibition of the winners’ works was held at the Tretyakov Gallery branch in Kaliningrad in June–July 2025 and attracted more than 50,000 visitors during its run.
The second competition, held in 2025–2026, attracted over 1,600 works from 56 countries around the world. The special category “Inspired by Russia,” established to mark the 170th anniversary of the Tretyakov Gallery, demonstrated the influence of the Russian art school and Russia’s cultural heritage on contemporary global art; the winner in this category was Luong Cao from Vietnam. In the summer of 2026, the Samara branch of the Tretyakov Gallery hosted the “World Painting” exhibition, showcasing the works of 15 finalists from 11 countries.
